There, he\u2019s demonstrated his ability to grow a program, leading his team to double the number of organ transplants with the best outcomes in the program\u2019s history. Under his leadership, URMC restarted live donor liver transplants, performing 30 operations over 2.5 years as well as introducing a very active program of donation after cardiac death. Dr. Hernandez is also heavily focused on liver resections, and is one of a handful of US surgeons performing the ALPPS procedure. Dr. Hernandez recently opened the second active program on liver transplantation for unresectable colorectal liver metastases in the US. Dr. Hernandez has received multiple grants for innovative research in liver cancer and regeneration and has &gt;100 peer-reviewed publications in HPB and liver transplantation. In 2019, he joined the editorial board of Annals of Surgery, the highest impact factor surgical journal. He is the Director for Living Donor Liver Transplantation at his institution. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers on gastrointestinal and liver diseases in high-impact factor journals, several book chapters and delivered lectures at national and international meetings. He joined UVA in 2019, bringing a unique set of skills with special training in living donor liver transplantation, pediatric liver transplantation and complex hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery to address benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts and gallbladder.<\/span>\u00a0<span data-contrast=\"none\">His clinical practice focuses on living donor hepatectomy, living donor liver transplantation, pediatric liver transplant, and liver cancer and pancreatic surgery.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<span data-contrast=\"none\">Dr. Goldaracena<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">s research is focused on clinical outcomes of adult and pediatric liver transplantation. Dr. Mauro is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Hepatology, Transplant Hepatologist and physician-scientist interested in clinical research in Cirrhosis, ACLF, Sarcopenia, and Liver Transplantation. He is the Director of the National Program of Viral Hepatitis of the Ministry of Health of Argentina.<\/span>\u00a0<span data-contrast=\"none\">He has a great number of peer-reviewed papers on gastrointestinal and liver designs in high-impact factor journals, co-authored books chapters and delivered lectures on liver-related topics at national and international meetings.
