The Regional Expansion Advanced Learning (REAL) project is an initiative by the ILTS Education Committee to reach out to the regions of Southeast Asia and South Asia and its surrounding regions through education activities. We have gathered much feedback from you through the survey which we have conducted in 2020 and we have successfully organised a few high-quality Webinars for all of you. This year, we look forward to continue engaging our partners in the region!<\/p>\n

In the First ILTS REAL Webinar for South Asia and Southeast Asia in 2022, we will explore the issues related to transplant oncology. The world renowned leaders in this field will share their insights and updated evidence and recommendations for transplant oncology involving advanced HCC and neuroendocrine liver metastasis.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Regional Expansion Advanced Learning project is an initiative by the ILTS Education Committee to reach out to the regions of Southeast Asia and South Asia and its surrounding regions through education activities. Through educational events such as the REAL webinars, we will be inviting eminent speakers in the field of liver transplantation to share their experience with the liver transplant community in the Southeast Asian and South Asian region, with the hope to enhance the partnership with the local LT community to build knowledge and skills in this area.<\/p>\n

We also hope to create communication channels for members from the region to connect with one another through the ILTS REAL program. We would love to hear from you any suggestions on the topics which might interest you in the future!<\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/td>\nAlfred Kow<\/strong> is the Assistant Dean (Education) of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore. He is also a Senior Consultant at the National University Center for Organ Transplantation, National University Health System Singapore. He is also a Senior Consultant at the Department of Surgery at the National University Hospital, and a Senior Consultant at the Division of Surgical Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute (NCIS) Singapore.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    \"\"<\/td>\nPrashant Bhangui<\/strong> MBBS, MS, Masters in HPB Surgery (Henri Bismuth Institute, France), is the Associate Director, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon at Medanta Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Delhi NCR, India. He was Chair of the Vanguard Committee, and currently a member of the Education and Scholarship Committee, and Development Committee of the ILTS. Dr. Bhangui\u2019s areas of research include hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal liver metastases, and living donor liver transplantation. He has several publications in key peer-reviewed international journals on these subjects, and serves on the Reviewer panel of high index factor HPB Surgery and Transplant Journals.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Vincenzo Mazzaferro<\/strong> is full Professor of Surgery at the Department of Oncology of the University of Milan and Director of the Gastro-Intestinal Surgery and Liver Transplantation Unit at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori (National Cancer Institute) of Milan, Italy. He graduated cum laude at the University of Turin (Italy) and was trained and board certificated cum laude in General Surgery and in Oncology at the University of Milan (Italy) and in Liver Surgery and Transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh (USA). From the early nineties he has developed several successful clinical and experimental projects in liver oncology and transplantation and leaded research and clinical projects focused on innovative approaches to liver diseases, particularly related to cancer. Today he is in charge of the HPB (hepato-pancreatic-biliary) oncology program in the oldest and most active comprehensive cancer Institution in Italy.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    \"\"<\/td>\n\n

    Dr. Yau<\/strong> graduated from the University of Hong Kong and started his medical oncology training initially at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. He was later employed as Specialist Registrar and Clinical Research Fellow at Royal Marsden Hospital, London. He also worked as a visiting faculty in Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Centre, Harvard Medical School, Boston in 2010. He was conferred the Doctor of Medicine from the University of Hong Kong in 2012. His main research interests are gastrointestinal oncology, early phase clinical trials and translational research. He had published more than 100 peer-review publications with articles in various leading oncology journals, namely Cell Stem Cell, Lancet Oncology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Clinical Cancer Research, Oncologist and Cancer. He had also delivered more than 100 invited regional and international lectures. He currently serves as associate editor and the editorial board members of many international peer-reviewed journals. He is currently the Vice President of Asia Pacific Neuroendocrine Tumour Society, international Faculty Board Member of International Association of Surgeons Gastroenterologist and Oncologists, General Secretary of Hong Kong Liver Cancer Foundation, and member of many international professional societies.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Moderators<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
    \"\"<\/td>\nDr Nguyen Quang Nghia<\/strong> is currently the Director at the Organ Transplantation Center, Viet Duc University Hospital, Vietnam. He graduated from Hanoi University and upon completion of his residency, he went around different institutions around the world to master the skills in HPB Surgery including in Taiwan, Italy, Korea and the USA. He is also a member of the executive committee of the various HPB disease and organ transplant societies in Vietnam.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    Dr. Abu Bakar Hafeez Bhatti<\/strong> is graduate of Dow Medical College, Karachi, He is a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow, United Kingdom, and Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. He did his Fellowship in complex surgical oncology from Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. He received additional training in multi visceral abdominal transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery from Georgetown University Washington (U.S.) and Shifa International Hospital Islamabad. He has authored more than 75 International Publications and is a reviewer for many international journals.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    \"\"<\/td>\nClaire Francoz<\/strong> (MD, PhD) graduated from Paris Medical School in 1996 and received her Medical degree from the University of Paris VII in 2001. She became Assistant Professor in the department of Hepatology at the University of Paris VII (h\u00f4pital Beaujon) in 2004. She is currently responsible of the Liver Intensive Care Unit and Transplant program in the same department. She has been a research fellow for three years in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Moreau (INSERM CRB3-Paris VII) working on renal dysfunction in patients with cirrhosis and earned her Doctoral degree in Cellular Physiology and Pathophysiology from the University of Paris VII in 2014. Her main research interests focus on acute liver failure and decompensated cirrhosis, particularly renal failure. She has published more than 90 papers in international peer review journals. She is also member of ILTS and EASL and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Hepatology.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
