The fellowship is 2 years long, and the basic training experience will include both scientific and social activities with the journal, the editors, and the societies. Up to four Editorial Fellows will be selected from different countries and representing different disciplines within transplantation. The role provides Fellows with the opportunity to see the inner workings of an academic journal, including recruiting and selecting peer reviewers and participating in manuscript decisions. The Fellow will be expected to take increasing responsibility over the course of the fellowship designed ultimately to assume Associate Editor functions. The Fellow will be exposed to topics of high originality, quality, and clinical relevance, thus affording the opportunity to stay abreast of new literature in diverse topics in the field while improving their scientific reading and writing skills.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The role of the Editorial Fellow<\/strong> is multi-faceted and involves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assisting one of the Executive Editors (Clinical Science, Basic Science, Statistics, Liver, Special Features, Transplantation Direct)<\/li>\n<li>Engage in efforts to increase journal readership and engagement with early-career peers<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the Journals\u2019 social media program including such activities as interviews with authors, conducting Facebook Live webinars, and participating in the journal\u2019s four social media platforms (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)<\/li>\n<li>Scan literature for meaningful new articles to bring to attention through the journal highlights and game-changer series<\/li>\n<li>Attend scholarly meetings, prepare meeting reports and special features<\/li>\n<li>Fellows\u2019 quarterly video conference call with the Editor in Chief and Editor of Transplantation Direct to provide advice to the journal editorial team on improvements that can be implemented in the journals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Fellowship is unpaid; however, Fellows will have complimentary online access to <em>Transplantation <\/em>and <em>Transplantation Direct<\/em>. All work is conducted online and by video conference calls. There is no physical editorial office. We anticipate the Fellow\u2019s time commitment to be a maximum of 3-5 hours per week. The fellowship begins in mid-2021.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Early career professional with a demonstrated commitment to a career in Transplantation \u2013 recent graduates of surgical and medical residencies, post-doctoral studies, or fellowships<\/li>\n<li>Excellent writing ability<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills \u2013 able to work with all levels of journal operations<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to social media and enthusiasm for using it in the context of a medical journal will be an asset<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility in light of changing priorities<\/li>\n<li>Ability to respect deadlines The ability to carve out time in busy clinical and academic schedules is a skill that you will need to have or develop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>All applications will ultimately be provided to Transplantation.
